At your first scheduled appointment, I will come to your home. I gather information from you, assess your animal, and we will determine the behavioral goals together. Each treatment plan is individualized and a number of sessions is recommended.
I will then begin demonstrating the skills you will need to start the behavior modification with your pet. You will receive information sheets and a 'homework' sheet so that you can practice the noted skills. Most visits are scheduled two weeks apart to allow ample practice time. If, at any time, you have additional info, questions about a skill or the process, you can call/text or email me for a prompt response.
During additional sessions, you will rate your level of success (on a scale of 1-10) with the prior intervention behaviors noted on the 'homework' sheet. Changes may be made accordingly.
The initial session is usually about 1 1/2 hours, with subsequent sessions of about 1 hour each. Many behaviors require only 3-4 sessions, because remember, I am teaching you to teach your dog!
Using a customized approach to address your dog's specific issues and creating an individualized training plan that works for you and your pet means that you are directly addressing the problem behaviors you are experiencing. In addition, you are addressing them in the environment in which you are experiencing them!
